LAYERED TEXTURE AND DETAIL

An early 90s two story townhouse with a courtyard-connected footprint is transformed to reflect a client’s love of mid-century modern design and colour, instilling a sense of joy.

The initial brief to provide an additional living space that doubled as a guest room by repurposing the garage led to reconfiguring the kitchen to connect internal spaces, with the addition of a downstairs powder room and ultimately, a refresh of the entire house.

An arresting cornerstone of the home’s design is the client’s adoration of colour, reflected in the paint, stone, tiles and joinery throughout.

The use of walnut veneer, small format tiles, brass accents and the golden hues of the playroom joinery give a nod to the mid-century- inspired design as well as creating an inherent connection to the client’s existing vintage furniture pieces from the era.
