Holism Retreat is a destination day spa located within the 5-star, MGallery by Sofitel, Hotel Chadstone in Melbourne. The design was inspired by the process of carefully polishing a rough stone to create a sparkling precious gem. Studio Tate conceived the new space as an urban sanctuary, at home amongst the luxury fashion preccinct.
Colour, texture and form merge to create a layered canvas of muted, tonal hues enlivened with arched thresholds, rendered walls and soft, recessed lighting.
Each space has its own distinct identity as a reflection of their various functions, whilst being united by a sense of calm indulgence. The finishes palette is gentle and the spaces are humble in scale. The overall aesthetic is designed to reflect the transformative process of refinement; from rough texture through to polished finish, representing a realisation of the wellness experience.
