Mercure Hotel Melbourne

Under construction. Project images coming soon.

Balancing the interests of owner and operator, and reflective of the Accor Group’s own brand values, Studio Tate have envisioned Mercure Hotel Pakenham as warm and welcoming whilst being robust and intelligently considered.

Charged with design and space planning for the low-rise development’s 64 rooms and suites, reception lobby, restaurant and bar, conference facilities and guest amenities, the studio was inspired by the nearby Pakenham Racecourse to explore ‘a day at the races’ design narrative.

Subtle references to a jockey’s silks and the vibrancy of the track are expressed in warm timber, red and blue terrazzo, and bursts of colour and brass. The double-height reception lobby is maximised with custom lighting suspended over stair for a moment of theatre and a sense of arrival for guests embarking on their stay.

Intelligent planning and moveable joinery allows the lobby-adjacent restaurant to act as a multi-functioning space, seamlessly transitioning from breakfast buffet to dinner service, functions or events. This highly considered methodology is complemented by the studio’s signature refined, polished finish, creating an exceptional addition to the region’s hospitality offering.
