Her Place Women’s Museum

Located within Melbourne’s historic Abbotsford Convent, Her Place Women’s Museum establishes a permanent home dedicated to recognising the achievements and contributions of Australian women. Conceived as a place for exhibitions, education and public engagement, the museum creates a platform where stories that have long been overlooked are made visible, enriching our collective understanding of Australia’s cultural history.

Delivered through Studio Tate’s Social Impact Program, the project reflects our belief that design can contribute to broader cultural conversations. As a women-led practice, partnering with Her Place held particular significance. Its mission to celebrate women’s stories and create greater visibility for women’s contributions closely aligns with our own values and our commitment to designing places that foster equality, representation and lasting community impact.
