M Residence - due for completion in 2016

Home to a family with teenage children, this stunning heritage house – one of three identical homes on Mercer Street in Armadale – needed to be reconsidered to adapt to its residents’ changing needs. Taking a macro perspective of the site we have created an interplay of old and new, with a modern glass link to connect the house to an old stable building to the rear of the property, and extension to the side that blends harmoniously with the heritage facade. Inside, spatial planning has been totally reconfigured to offer the family increased amenity with extra bathrooms, an added scullery, music room and study nooks, new wardrobes and upgrades to living and dining, existing bathrooms and the kitchen. Better communication between the interior and outdoor spaces and landscape upgrades means that the sense of space and proportions are maximised, meaning the family can get the most out of their home.
