D Residence

This project involved the renovation of a Federation home in Brighton, Melbourne. Working with a very trusting client, we were given free reign. Reflecting our client’s love of cooking, and the importance of family meals with kids and grandkids, we focused our energy on the heart of the home – the kitchen. We maximised the assets of this delightful room, which captures morning light from the east, establishing a connection with the adjacent outdoor space. A custom-designed crockery and glassware cabinet with a bronze mirror in the back adds a moment of luxury into the bright, white space. While keeping the formal arrangement, to honour the client’s love of entertaining properly, the fitout is a contemporary insertion into a heritage home that acknowledges its context without submitting to it.
